The Druga Godba Festival at Cankarjev Dom

Cankarjev Dom continues its long-standing partnership with Druga godba, the international music festival that for more than four decades has showcased the finest and most compelling voices from across the globe. Renowned for the cultural diversity of its artists and their innovative approaches to performance, the festival offers a vibrant cross-section of today’s world music landscape.

Druga Godba 2026 arrives at Cankarjev Dom with a series of concerts beginning on the opening night, 27 May. The festival will open at Klub CD with one of Slovenia’s most distinctive and versatile artists, Irena Z. Tomažin, who has distilled her years of exploration of voice, text, and sound into a fully realized original work, released this year as the album It’s The Crying Game. Another evening’s highlight will be a performance by the trio Guitari Baro, presenting the rich heritage of the Manding griot musical tradition to Druga Godba and Music of the World Series audiences. The night will close with Reolô, whose refined interplay of contemporary Norwegian folk and jazz promises an atmospheric conclusion.

The 42nd edition of Druga Godba returns to Cankarjev Dom on the festival’s final day, 30 May, with a Saturday afternoon programme in the CD Club. The first set will feature Slovenian musicians Andrej Hrvatin and Žiga Golob presenting their debut album Spektral. The second set will venture into lesser-known corners of Welsh musical tradition with the outstanding Carys Hafana, whose album Angel (Glitterbeat) has garnered widespread critical acclaim.
