Through a personal interpretation of essays from Susan Sontag’s collection On Women, the dance essay id:ENTITETA (id:ENTITY) explores how everyday experience constantly shapes and disciplines our bodies and identities. The flamenco body functions as a medium and amplifier, channelling the flow of voice and sound and thus granting the dancing body the status of the audible – a body with its own voice that resists silence, existing with the express purpose of making itself heard. By interweaving personal experience with the testimonies of (women’s) disembodied voices – which, through their sonic presence, further open up a space for reflection on the search for autonomy within contemporary social frameworks – the essay seeks points of intersection between the vertical layering of social roles and the horizontal passage of time, ultimately fusing them in a cross that each of us bears alone
