On the eve of Srečko Kosovel’s birthday, the CD Club will host a very special event dedicated to one of Slovenia's most exciting poets. Slovenian percussionist and composer Zlatko Kaučič has taken Kosovel’s poetry as his point of departure – poems whose dominant motif is the Karst landscape. The largest part of Kosovel’s body of poetry speaks of the Karst, which is why he is known as the “lyric poet of the Karst/Kras region.” In his work, we encounter impressions that often grow into metaphors of threatened national integrity, motifs depicting love for the mother and the beloved, and confessional passages in which a premonition of death already makes itself felt. The border region left an indelible mark on both Kosovel and Kaučič. Accompanied by music, Kosovel’s poems will be interpreted by Ana Geršak and Iztok Osojnik. The project was released in late January under the Zvočni izviri label.
