Hydraulics from Antiquity to the Present Day

Lecture accompanying the exhibition Idea – Ancient Greek Science and Technology

Lecture by: Prof. Dr. Matevž Dular, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana

The artefacts of ancient peoples’ technical solutions provide invaluable insight into the development of natural and technical sciences (mathematics, logic, hydraulics, construction, seamanship, building technology, etc.), which laid the foundations for today’s high-tech world. As illustrated by the IDEA exhibition, the areas of hydraulics and construction had considerable infrastructural significance already in antiquity. That is why we have decided to embark on a journey through time and delve into these scientific disciplines with the lectures: Hydraulics from Antiquity to the Present Day and Construction from Antiquity to the Present Day

In cooperation with the Alumni Club of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
