Old technical equipment exhibition marking the 40th season of Cankarjev dom

Cankarjev dom has left a deep mark on the past four decades, influencing the life of our community, and enhancing our individual experiences with arts, as well as congress, social and protocol events. It served as the venue for pivotal moments in history that have radically affected both social order and our mode of living. Over the last forty years, Cankarjev dom has mirrored the entire world.

Uršula Cetinski, Director General of Cankarjev dom

The Vintage CD exhibition pays tribute to grand theatrical productions that have left an indelible impression, even with their subtlest details, unforgettable stagings that will be etched in our memories forever. In addition to the exhibited artefacts used in various shows, the spotlight will be focused on obsolete technology that enabled the making of these unparalleled theatrical creations. Outdated loudspeakers, microphones and magnetic tapes, old classic theatre floodlights, slide and video projectors, scenic elements, props and costumes will bring back nostalgic memories… Some of the showcased productions are Baptism under Triglav from 1985, The Frogs by Gregor Strniša and Damir Zlatar Frey, and King Lear from the 1992/1993 season, an international coproduction Turandot from 1994 and a co-production Macbeth.
