COSMOS KOSOVEL
Exhibition marking the centennial of the death of Srečko Kosovel (Kosovel Year 2026)
Exhibition curator: Marijan Rupert, MA (NUK)
The exhibition dedicated to poet Srečko Kosovel traces the journey of his life and work in chronological order.
While the emphasis is usually placed on Kosovel’s final period – the Constructivist and avant-garde phase – the exhibition also explores his youth and the family that played a significant role in his formation as a poet and creative mind.
The exhibition highlights the relevance of Kosovel’s thought and poetry, which continue to resonate with new generations of readers. Visitors will gain insight into valuable original material from the poet’s legacy – manuscripts of poems, diaries, letters, photographs, school notebooks, editorial materials and the first publications of his texts. The display also includes selected artworks and manifestos from Slovenian and international collections, shedding light on the broader artistic and historical context of the interwar period.
The exhibition introduces younger audiences and their parents to Kosovel as a poet whose work transcended his own time, as well as an artist who remains an important contemporary voice in Slovenian and European culture.
