Running time: The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Requiem(s) by iconic choreographer Angelin Preljocaj combines his signature aesthetic precision, philosophical depth and physical expression into a reflection on death, grief and transcendence. The dancers are bodies in transformation – fragile, vulnerable, but also powerful. The choreography moves between classical beauty and brutal reality: the movement is now ethereal and floating, now spastic, almost violent. Far from fearing death, Preljocaj delves into its dark depths, observing, worshiping and dancing with it.
Preljocaj explores grief in a ballet full of vitality. With powerful dance moves, ghostly lighting, a soundtrack alternating between masses for the dead, metal music and words by Gilles Deleuze, the choreographer’s new creation explores death in a total and
hypnotic spectacle.

Angelin Preljocaj is one of the most prominent contemporary choreographers, known for his unique style that fuses classical ballet with avant-garde and contemporary dance idioms. Born in Paris, he first studied classical ballet before turning to contemporary dance, studying under Karin Waehner. In 1985, he founded his own dance company, Ballet Preljocaj, with which he creates daring and aesthetically accomplished dance productions.
His choreographies often explore themes of physicality, social tension and existential issues, interlacing movement, visual art, technology and music. His best-known works testify to his flair for reinterpreting classic stories through a contemporary, often provocative lens. Collaborations with artists in a variety of fields, from costume designers to digital artists, bring an added dimension to his work.
