A series of three talks dedicated to Gaza at CD:
What Happened to the Palestinians? - POSTPONED
The Ervin Hladnik Milharčič panel discussions have been postponed due to ill health. New dates will be announced in due course.
Hisham Abdallah, Palestinian political analyst from Ramallah, West Bank; Ahmed Ghuneim, leader of the Fatah movement, Jerusalem; Adel Zanoun, journalist from Gaza
A Palestinian political analyst from Ramallah, Hisham Abdallah is a regular guest on Arabic satellite TV shows dedicated to politics. He taught at Birzeit University, writes for Arabic newspapers, and is a political analyst of the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel. He has an interesting family background. His father, Abu Mahshur Abdala, was the liaison between Yasser Arafat in Lebanon and Jerusalem and a member of the inner circle of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) leadership in the 1980s and 1990s. He was shot dead by the Israeli army on the roof of his own house during a raid on Dura.
Ahmed Ghuneim is the leader of Fatah, the largest faction of the confederated multi-party Palestine Liberation Organization in the West Bank. He was the closest associate of Marwan Barghouti, who has been imprisoned for the past two decades. Ghuneim is a member of the Palestinian Authority and a representative of a political organization that has lost its footing.
Until 2007, when Hamas assumed administrative control of Gaza Strip, Adel Zanoun was the most popular journalist on Palestinian state television. When dismissed by Hamas, he went to work for the French news agency AFP. This year, he left Gaza. He is one of the two main characters featured in Hélène Lam Trong’s documentary Inside Gaza, which received its premiere in September 2025 at the Modena Film Festival.
