The new season again brings extraordinary voices, names more and less familiar to our audiences, and veritable stars in their local environments. The beginning could not have been more promising: in mid-October fado artist Cristina Branco, one of Portugal's most prominent musicians of recent decades, will perform in CD’s Gallus Hall. The all-female Flor de Toloache mariachi band will create a lively atmosphere and cast a spell over the audience with their soaring voices. These musicians from Mexico, Puerto Rico and the US took the audiences by storm when they first appeared in New York City, and also won a Latin Grammy. This October they are coming to Slovenia's capital city for the first time. It is with even greater anticipation that we are looking forward to the first Slovenian appearance of the Algerian diva Souad Massi, who has rocketed to world music stardom with her latest album. But that's not all. Glasbe Sveta is featuring the musical tradition of our eastern neighbours for the first time in the history of the series. Mimika Orchestra is similar in concept to the Sounds of Slovenia project, except that it places focus on fusing tradition with contemporary jazz music. The series’ another first timer is music from Réunion, a remote island in the Indian Ocean. Ann O'Aro keeps alive the tradition of the best maloya artists, the traditional musical genre of this island.

Join us for exciting new musical travels around the world!
