All music connoisseurs know the story about an eleven-year-old child prodigy with a poetical name who debuted under the baton of the illustrious Zubin Mehta and developed into a leading violinist of our time. If musical perfection can be said to exist, it is found in Midori’s playing. Unwaveringly dedicated to the idea of pure musical expression, Midori pursues her path of a sought-after concert artist and visionary teacher. She encourages underprivileged children in New York and Japan to obtain a musical education and is actively engaged in charity appeals. In her quest to reach out to people and foster an appreciation of music, Midori goes beyond the concert halls and recording studios to the areas where music access is most needed.
Midori’s recurrent chamber partner is Turkish-American pianist Özgür Aydin, winner of the renowned ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Aydin has enchanted the critics and audiences alike with his supple playing, splendid touch and refined taste. The two astounding artists share their love of diversified repertoire and the desire for conveying deeply felt expressivity. That they are regular collaborators is evident in each of their finely wrought but free-spirited interpretations. Their music-making is utterly compelling, and the finely balanced interplay of instruments virtually unparalleled.

The stylistic diversity of an all-sonata programme highlights the interpretative breadth of the two musicians. Alternately foregrounding violin and piano, the programme calls for a musical dialogue between equals.
