*
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
The Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra, boasting a rich history and endowed with the youthful vigour of its musicians, is making a return visit to Cankarjev dom. One of Hungary's oldest and most vibrant ensembles, Concerto Budapest has been reaching audiences the world over with its ambitious and innovative programming and high-profile broadcasts. The Ljubljana programme is dedicated to the cornerstones of the symphonic repertoire. The orchestra will perform under the baton of the celebrated Hungarian violinist András Keller, founder of the award-winning Keller Quartet and recipient of Hungary’s highest award for artistic achievement, the 2021 Kossuth Prize.
The evening’s soloist, Rafał Blechacz, winner of the prestigious Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition in 2005 and exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, remains an important ambassador of Chopin's music today; the composer’s youthful and ambitious piano concerto, a reverie-like recollection of memories already heralding Chopin’s characteristic dreaminess, is juxtaposed against the all-pervading pathos and tempestuous emotions that drip from the first to the last note of Tchaikovsky's symphony.
