Antonín Dvořák, Stabat Mater, Op. 58

Dvořák's oratorio Stabat Mater, a highly evocative musical meditation on the grief of Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a deeply contemplative work whose musical and spiritual excellence has rendered it one of the best-known settings of this liturgical sequence. The Czech ensembles will deliver a historically informed performance of this monumental and moving testimony to human sorrow and hope. The Brno Philharmonic, an ambassador for Janáček's musical legacy with a prolific discography and, since 2020, its own label, is also creating success stories in collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno. Recipient of the prestigious Classic Prague Award 2019 and for many years a permanent partner of the Heidenheim Opera Festival, the Choir ranks among the foremost exponents of choral music. Known for the concision and lucidity of its sound, as well as expressive breadth, it is synonymous with excellence.

The all-round conductor enjoying a prolific, versatile concert career, Leoš Svárovský, will be joined by accomplished Czech soloists: Jana Sibera, winner of the prestigious 2022 Thalia Award, Václava Krejčí Housková, winner of the 2020 Gramophone Classical Music Award, Peter Berger, an internationally celebrated lyric spinto tenor, and the well-established interpreter of Dvořák's works in the concert repertoire, Jozef Benci.
