Improvisation

A leading French organist of the young generation, Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard has won several prestigious international improvisation competitions. He serves as the organist at the famous Gothic Church of Saint-Eustache in Paris (whose pipe organ is reputed to be the largest in France) and also applies himself to teaching. Apart from maintaining a busy concert schedule across Europe, the US and beyond, he also writes music. Moreover, he greatly enjoys providing organ accompaniment to silent movies in French cinemas.
Marle-Ouvrard’s diversified and broad repertoire ranges from classical organ works to transcriptions of symphonic works. He devotes particular attention to improvisation, seeing it as an excellent vehicle for showcasing his talent. A daring musician, he combines organ with other forms of artistic expression, including dance, electronic music and graphic art.

An idiosyncratic organist, Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard possesses an innate gift for improvisation, mesmerising critics and audiences alike with invariably new ideas that stretch the established limits of interpretation.
