Vladimir Leben often takes simple, anecdotal events and phenomena for the starting points of his depictions, which he then proficiently builds up in multilayered statements and metaphorical syntagmas.
Born in 1971 in Sevnica, Vladimir Leben studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts after graduating from the Secondary School of Design and Photography. He has held many solo exhibitions and has often participated in group exhibitions both nationally and abroad. He is co-founder of the Museum of Prehistoric Art. His areas of activity are painting, animation and illustration. In 2007, he received the first prize for animation at the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož, and in 2012 he won the Hinko Smrekar Award at the 10th Slovenian Biennial of Illustration. He lives and works in Ljubljana.
