Schubertov Oktet (Schubert Octet)

In cooperation with the Narodni dom Maribor, Kulturni dom Nova Gorica and Institution Celeia Celje

Line-up: Maximiliano Martín, clarinet; Boštjan Lipovšek, horn; Žarko Perišić, bassoon; Alexander Janiczek, violin; Tanja Sonc, violin; Ribal Molaeb, viola; Timo Veikko Valve, cello; Iztok Hrastnik, double bass

Formed on the initiative of hornist Boštjan Lipovšek, the project by prominent Slovenian and international artists grew out of the natural synergy of their creative energies. Sharing their intense devotion to music, the musicians’ commitment reflects deep-centred musicality. The violinists are Alexander Janiczek, an artist of great intellectual and musical breadth, and Tanja Sonc, a highly sought-after musician who has already attained international distinction.

Ettore Causa, an accomplished Italian-born violist is considered one of the most brilliant viola soloists and a much sought-after chamber partner. For the past several years he has lived between Copenhagen and New York, where he is on the faculty of the prestigious Yale School of Music. Finnish-born Timo Veikko Valve is Principal Cello of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and one of the most versatile musicians of his generation performing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader on both modern and period instruments. Internationally recognised Slovenian double bass player Iztok Hrastnik has been member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a number of years. Maximiliano Martín is one of the most compelling and charismatic clarinet players of recent years, while Žarko Perišić has made a name for himself as the Principal Bassoon of the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra.
