Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic Choir
Conductor: György Győriványi Ráth, soloists: Rinnat Moriah, soprano, Peter Sonn, tenor, Miran Kolbl, violin, Luka Ortar, bass-baritone

Programme:
Joseph Haydn, Symphony No. 49 in F minor, Hob. I:49, “La passione”
Ludwig van Beethoven, Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in F major, Op. 50
Ludwig van Beethoven, Christus Am Ölberge, Op. 85

In recent years, Israeli Rinnat Moriah, with her convincing lyrical and coloratura soprano and a repertoire extending through all of the stylistic periods, has become a resounding name in the most renowned opera and concert venues, such as Milan’s La Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, as well as at festivals in Salzburg, Baden-Baden, Lucerne and Aix-en-Provence.

After her thrilling collaborations last year, she is again our guest in the present season, this time with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, brought together in a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s magnificent but rarely performed Christus Am Ölberge (Christ on the Mount of Olives). Soprano Rinnat Moriah will be joined on stage by Austrian tenor Peter Sonn, who regularly appears in opera houses in Berlin, Milan, Zurich, Munich and Vienna, under the baton of the most prominent conductors. He has performed the roles of Tamino (The Magic Flute), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Igor (Prince Igor), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Don José (Carmen), David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Walther (Tannhäuser) and many others. He also sings lieder as well as solo parts in vocal-instrumental works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, and so on.

In the first part of the concert, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra’s longstanding concertmaster, Miran Kolbl, will appear as a soloist. On this occasion, the penetrating, full and agile tone of his violin will sing in Beethoven’s exceptionally lyrical Romance for Violin and Orchestra in F major in rondo form. The concert programme opens with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 49, “La passione”. The musicians will be led by the renowned Hungarian conductor György Győriványi Ráth.
