Since its formation in 1997, Fake Orchestra have been pioneering Slovenian folk music in modern arrangements, reimagining folk songs in genres that include jazz, soul, funk, rock, Afrobeat, etc., etc. Under the leadership of guitarist Igor Leonardi, the band has explored different styles and released five different albums. Titled Kud, their penultimate release focuses exclusively on Slovenian folk songs and is vibrant in its delivery, featuring mainly dance rhythms and jazz improvisations.

For this occasion, the eight-member Orchestra – starring vocalist Ana Vipotnik – will replace their electronic instruments with acoustic ones to play more or less known folk songs originating from different Slovenian regions.

Special guests at the traditional December concert at Cankarjev dom will include Die Romantische Cravalle: Peter Hawlina and his granddaughters who have been performing Slovenian folk songs spontaneously, in their original, multi-vocal rendition.
