The largest hall of Cankarjev dom with outstanding acoustics and architecture, Gallus Hall is justifiably acknowledged as one of the country's finest auditoriums. Its breadth of facilities and size make the hall the ultimate venue for larger conferences, concerts of symphonic, chamber, organ, jazz and other music, as well as opera and ballet, drama, dance, entertainment and multimedia performances. Featuring technically superior environment, it also caters for TV- and radio broadcasts. Its theatre stage dimensions are 18 x 18 m, the front part of the orchestra stage measuring 6 x 17 m, the proscenium 12.5–20 m in width and 7.5–10 m in height. The capacity of Gallus Hall is 1300, with additional seats accommodating up to 2000 people, which makes it a hall suitable for larger conferences, also on international scale. A special feature of the hall is indubitably the Schuke organ, whose 73 organ stops admit pressurized air to a set of almost 8000 pipes with a stoplist including German, French, Italian and Spanish elements. This remarkable concert instrument can also be incorporated into opening ceremonies of special events or conferences to make them more memorable.
With a capacity of 562 Linhart Hall is an ideal venue for congresses or lectures, theatre performances, film screenings, diverse entertainment events and all kinds of concerts. With stage dimensions of 13 x 15 m in width and depth, and 6 m in height, the hall’s technical support provides for simultaneous translation into/from six languages, screenings, audio and video recordings, as well as television and radio broadcasts.
Trade exhibitions and fairs
The spacious Foyers I and II and the Grand Reception Hall of Cankarjev dom are the ideal venue for large-scale events, such as trade fairs and exhibitions. The team of Cankarjev dom also addresses all the necessary aspects of event staging and planning: exhibition space, platforms or other constructions as well as technical resources for presentations (sound system, projector, screens, etc.). Larger or heavier exhibits are transferred to each floor via designated access ways or lifts. Why not take advantage of the excellent location of Cankarjev dom and stage your event in the centre of the city?
The Grand Reception Hall is one of the most beautiful spaces of Cankarjev dom: clad in white marble with a height of almost 7 m and capacity of 1,127 m2, it is justifiably acknowledged as one of the country’s most magnificent halls. With the recent renovation, the hall has been restored to its former glory. An architectural gem by Edvard Ravnikar, this magical setting can accommodate up to 1,400 guests for lavish receptions and 600 for banquets, as well as various exhibitions. When hosting balls, fashion shows or receptions, it will bathe in striking lighting schemes designed by the lighting experts of Cankarjev dom.
Foyer I is the central connecting point of CD. Imparted a new vigour this year, the Foyer has been overhauled with all of its identifiable elements in mind. Similarly to the Grand Reception Hall, the Foyer is a large multi-purpose space (covering 997 m2) that can accommodate four hundred guests for banquets, and up to seven hundred for receptions. Daily visited by a large number of theatre- and concert-goers as well as passers-by, it is also an ideal showroom.
CD’s largest space for social gatherings (1350 m2), Foyer II can be combined with Linhart Hall and E Conference Halls to form a complex whole. Recently modernised, the Foyer’s natural materials and abundant glass elements give it a supremely elegant quality. While predominantly hosting corporate events (banquets accommodating up to 600 and receptions up to 1000 attendees), it is also a superb venue for a combination exclusive to CD – an artistic event followed by a reception.
