Founded in 1993 by Jeannot Painchaud (Co-Director) and co-founded by Julie Hamelin (Co-Director) and Daniel Cyr (Director of acrobatic research), Cirque Éloize is among the leaders of the contemporary-circus movement, performing a magical brand of circus artistry. Drawing on the multidisciplinary talents of its artists, the innovation of Cirque Éloize is expressed through the theatricality and humanity that emanate from its
performances, as the company is combining time-honored circus acts with music, dance, theater, and performance in a new and original way. With five original productions to its
credit, Cirque Éloize has staged more than 3,000 shows in some 200 cities located in 20 countries around the world. Since its inception, Éloize has focused on stage scripting, with
acrobatics forming an integral component of the staging. Cirque Éloize has taken part in a number of prestigious international festivals, conquered Broadway with its show Rain, and
will be the first circus company to undertake a major tour in the network of Broadway venues starting in the fall of 2007.

Founded by Daniele Finzi Pasca in Lugano in 1983, Teatro Sunil has produced more than 30 dance and theatre shows and has collaborated with more than 200 artists from many different countries. Over the years, a solid core group has been formed, consisting of Maria Bonzanigo, Daniele Finzi Pasca, Marco Finzi Pasca, Hugo Gargiulo, Dolores Heredia, and Antonio
Vergamini. The company has performed its shows in 26 countries, and has created coproductions with Swiss, Italian, Austrian, Brazilian, Canadian, and Mexican companies. With “teatro della carezza”, it carries out the activities of a research laboratory working on the technical approach to the work of actors and dancers.
Daniele Finzi Pasca has directed several creations in which Teatro Sunil, or some of its members joined him on the various creative teams: "Nomade" and "Rain" for Cirque Éloize; "Corteo" for Cirque du Soleil; and the closing ceremonies of the 20th Olympic
Winter Games in Torino for Filmmaster and Toroc. This remarkable event was seen by a live audience of 35,000 people, and by more than two billion television
viewers.

NEBBIA reunites the creation team that has been in place since 2002. The troupe will include a dozen international artists, some of whom have been involved in previous shows, while others
have worked with Finzi Pasca in the past. On tour starting in the winter of 2008, this new creation will once again plunge the audience into a jocular and touching universe.

"There are fogs that are thick and deep like an intoxication. Points of reference are obscured, and all that remains are streetlamps: pale references, islands of light. The horizon melts into othingness, and it seems like the sea could start two steps away. In the Paduan Plain, the fog is an adventure. As children visiting our grandparents, we knew that the whole street, the houses in front of the balcony, and the entire world could disappear before ightfall. The sky hunkered down very low, and every sound seemed like a little hallucination.
We are such stuff as dreams are made on. I was in a theatre when I first heard it, and it was then that I understood why some people love the fog and others don't even know what it means to lose oneself in order to find oneself.
In Nomade, we gazed up to find that the sky is larger at night; and in Rain, a nostalgic freedom poured down on us from that sky. In this New Creation, the sky descends like a mantle to cover our shoulders and protect our dreams.
But will there be a Circus? Will there be clowns? Will you make us laugh and cry? Certainly. There will also be Shakespeare, or at least his ghost and his games with a theatre within a theatre, and his clown actors. There will be the stories of the neighbourhood where I was born. There will be a suspended, funny, tragic, and
surreal version of time."
